Covid 19 and its Repercussions on Trucking Industry (Article by Col H Dhillon – CEO WheelsAZ)

The Pandemic Covid 19 has brought every thing to a stand still with its effect on citizens, businesses and every life style coming on its way. It’s almost 4x weeks with every Institution in a Lockdown status thus impacting the state economy in a huge way. If not tackled in a phased manner in the post Lockdown period then the time ahead would be even more painful.

We, as Truckers, have a reason to hold out head high since we stood by the situation in the way of transporting essentials of every sort to different destinations.

As the statistics have been highlighting dire shortage of Truck Drivers especially in the AZ class since a long time its very important for the Industry Caretakers to have a look in their policies in order to find ways and means to address this issue on a priority.

Covid 19 scenario must be taken as an eye opener and the Trucking Industry should be given a significant importance rather than being a service industry generating limited jobs as last resort for Citizens, PR holders. Students and disgruntled Professionals not satisfied in their own fields.

Hopefully, our Industry Leaders will have a peep in the existing potholes and do something concrete in ares like Truckers on road Comforts,  DriverTraining, Quick Drive Testing Facilities and incentives to young drivers in getting hired directly in large sized Transportation Companies and falling prey to the system.
